Native to Central America and Mexico, marigolds were exported to the rest of the world by early explorers. Marigolds are easy to grow and perform well in the mid to late summer garden. Seeds should be planted in warm conditions.

This is the native species type from Oaxaca, Mexico traditionally and still used in Day of the Dead celebrations.
